BLAIR WOMAN'S MOTHER BURIED IN IOWA

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, at the United Congregational Church at Sloan for Hazel Leone Oneal, 82, Sloan, Iowa. She passed away November 26, 1980, at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair. Rev. Victor Engelmann officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery at Sloan.

Hazel Leone Oneal was born December 28, 1897, at Albaton, Iowa, to Nels Fredrick and Mildred Mae Evans Nelson. On December 23, 1919, she was united in marriage to Vernie Wayne Oneal. He died April 11, 1951. She was a school teacher for several years in the Albaton area. From 1952 to 1962, she was a bookkeeper for Quaker Oats Company, Sloan, Iowa. Until going to Blair, Nebraska, in 1971, she was a lifelong resident of the Sloan area. She graduated from Sloan High School in 1916 and then attended Morningside College for one year. She was a member of the UCC Congregational Church, Sloan; the Church Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, Sloan; and Rural Letter Carriers Auxillary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Verna Mi???, Spaulding, Nebraska, and Mrs. Russell (Nola) Kelley, Blair, Nebraska; one brother, Fred E. Nelson, Sloan, Iowa; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Glen Miltenberger, the organist, accompanied the vocalist, Mrs. Ronald Ernst, who sang the selections "Ivory Palaces" and "How Great Thou Art."
