An Early Settler of Blair Died Saturday Night. Ill Two Weeks

Resident Since 1880

Mrs. John McQuarrie, a resident of Blair since 1880, died at her home at 11:40 p.m. Saturday at the age of seventy-six years.

Deceased was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada where she grew to womanhood.

Her husband, the late John McQuarrie, was also a native of Prince Edward Island but came to Blair at an earlier date and engaged in the lumber business. In 1880 when he had established himself in business Mrs. McQuarrie joined him. They met in Omaha and were married and immediately came to Blair where they continued to make their home until death called them, the husband going first in 1929.

To Mr. and Mrs. McQuarrie seven children were born, four of whom are living. ? Jeanette and Ma still at home and George married ? next door. Besides these ? relatives the deceased had older sister living near Boston, all of whom grieve for the departed.

Mrs. McQuarrie has not been in the best of health for some time but her acute illness which finally caused her death was but of two weeks duration.

Mrs. McQuarrie was an active member of the Congregational church, the Rebekah lodge and the W.R.C. and she was a friend to all who knew her. She was a woman of sterling qualities and conscientious in all her doings and her place will be hard to fill.

The funeral services were here Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Bendorf Funeral home and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Note: John is buried in Blair Cemetery, Blk 16 Lot 2 Gr 3; Find a Grave # 113534587. Margaret’s record (Find a Grave #113534588) stated that the death date was 3 April 1937; birth date was 30 July 1860.
