Vernon Jacobson Dies Of Illness

Youth Is Buried In Blair Wednesday On His 22nd Birth Anniversary

On his 22nd birthday anniversary, Vernon Jacobson, former Blairite who has resided at Alliance for a number of years, was buried in Blair cemetery yesterday.

The youth died at Alliance Sunday evening after a lengthy illness. He had been critically ill all this month.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin B. Jacobson of Alliance and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ola Jacobson of Blair, he was graduated from Alliance high school with the class of 1933, serving that year as class president. He had been active in school affairs, and was president of the class in his junior year, also.

He was an only child, and his parents and grandparents are the only immediate survivors, although there are many relatives living in the vicinity of Blair.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Alliance, after which the body was brought to the Campbell mortuary in Blair. A brief prayer service was held at the mortuary yesterday preceding burial.

Son of Former Blairites Dies At Alliance

After Years of Illness Dies at 22. Buried in Blair Cemetery

After six long years of suffering Vernon Bernhardt Jacobsen died Sunday, June 12 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jacobson, of Alliance, Nebr.

The deceased was born on a farm south of Orum, this county, on June 15th, 1916 and was thus 22 years of age at the time of his death. He started his schooling in Blair, going one year to the West school in Blair.

The family then moved to Alliance where he continued his schooling until he graduated from the Alliance High school in the spring of 1932.

His suffering from nephritis, covering a period of six years has been hard indeed to bear. He lost his sight during this time. But loving hands were always ready and every care that could be given to assist but it was of no avail, medical science could do nothing.

Besides the parents he leaves his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Jacobson, of Blair and other relatives here all of whom grieve deeply their loss.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Alliance after which the body was brought to Blair where funeral services wre held at Campbellā€™s mortuary at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday with Rev. M. Allan Keith of Alliance officiating.

Pallbearers were Bennard Reeh, Kenneth Jensen, Wilfred Petersen, Leo Hooks, Earl Hurd and Merton Jensen.

Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Among those from out-of-town here for the funeral services Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. William Irish, Mrs. George Huckett, Mrs. Paul Judkins, Miss Mae Osenkapp, Miss Lenore Larsen, Arthur Doran and Ralph Judkins, of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christiansen of Hampton, Nebraska; Mrs. Edwin Wall of Aurora, Nebraska; Mrs. C. R. Hitchcock, Earl Hitchcock, and Mrs. Garland Reckart and son, of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hurd, Earl Hurd, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hurd and Stewart Hurd of Omaha; and Mrs. Joe Kase and Miss Ellen Meyer of Alliance, Nebraska.
