PIONEER LADY PASSES

The death of Mrs. Caroline Aye of this city occurred early last Saturday morning, Febr. 2, at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha, following an accident a few days previous when she fell at her home and fractured her hip. She was taken to Omaha for attention where she passed away as stated above.

The deceased was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany in 1848 and came to America when about fourteen years of age, coming to Davenport, Ia. When nineteen years old, she was married to Hans Aye and they moved to Omaha in 1868. The following year they came to Blair where the family was reared and educated. There were five boys, two, August and Charles, dying in infancy. There remains John and Adolph of this city and Herman of Omaha; all of whom were present at the services.

In 1888 the boys being old enough to farm, the family moved out on the farm west of town. Here the husband died Jan. 31, 1901.

Besides the immediate family mentioned, the deceased leaves two older sisters, Mrs. Johanna Schumann of Westside, Iowa and Mrs. Louisa Schroeder of Davenport, Ia.

Funeral services were held at the residence of her son, John, with whom she has made her home for years, and burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
