Note: although both obituaries indicate that she was first buried in Herman, her grave and that of Mads were moved to Blair, Nebraska. Their tombstones are in the Blair Cemetery. There have been several graves initially in Herman that are now in the Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Christine Petersen, 76, Dies At Her Son’s Home In Missouri

HERMAN—Mrs. Christine Petersen, 76, for many years a resident of the Herman community, died Monday, May 17, at the home of her son, Edgar Petersen, near Osceola, Mo. She was the widow of Mads Petersen.

Funeral services were held here last Thursday afternoon, the Rev. A.W. Clarke of Schuyler officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Hancock, Alfred Eriksen, Bud Shaefer, Floyd Ackerman, Arthur W. Andersen and Thorvald Hansen. Interment was in the Herman Cemetery.

Native of Denmark, Mrs. Petersen was born Feb. 26, 1872 as Christine Collins. She came to Blair in 1888, and in 1891 was married to Mads Petersen. Six sons were born to the couple. Mr. Petersen and one son, Soren, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Petersen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Herman.

Surviving are five sons, Edgar of Osceola, Mo., Carl of Blair, Clarence of Omaha and Albert and Leonard of Herman. Other survivors include a brother, Nels Collins of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. Christoffer Andersen of Blair; and 14 grandchildren.

Former Hermanite Dies In Missouri

Mrs. Mads Petersen, a resident of the Herman vicinity for years, passed away at the home of her son at Osceola, Missouri on last Monday afternoon.

Mr. Henry Truhlsen, Herman mortician and her son, Leonard Petersen, left immediately for Missouri and brought the body to Herman where interment will be made on this (Thursday) afternoon. Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Methodist church at Herman.
