Raymond L. Whitmus Dies

Raymond Leo Whitmus, second son of Frank and Nancy Whitmus, was born at Round Valley, Nebraska, February 11, 1894 and died at Court View hospital at Blair, Nebraska, April 17, 1937, aged 43 years, 2 months and 6 days.

On February 11, 1915 he was united in marriage to Esther Frances Cunningham, at Broken Bow, Nebraska, and to them were born six children: Martha, Mrs. Janet Zimmerman, Raymond Jr, Theodore and Lloyd. He is survived by his wife and children, two grandchildren, two brothers: Fred and Lloyd, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, one sister, Mrs. Mary Coffman of Gates, Nebraska, and his step-father, Tom Wakefield Sr. of Herman. His mother and father preceded him in death.

He united with the Christian Church at Lillian, Nebraska, when fifteen years of age and was a member at the time of his death.

He moved from Broken Bow to Herman eleven years ago and has resided in this community ever since. He was a quiet, unassuming man of very few words, but had a reputation for honest work and good character. He will be missed by many relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Herman Methodist church conducted by Rev. W.A. Clarke. Music was furnished by a quartette comprised of Miss Dagmar Olson, Mrs. Claude Yowell, J.H. Johnson and Fred Robertson with Mrs. J.H. Johnson at the piano.

Burial was made in the Herman cemetery.—Herman Cor.

Raymond Whitmus of Herman Dies

Herman Resident, 43, Succumbs in Blair Hospital Saturday

Raymond L Whitmus, 43, Herman resident 11 years, died in Court View hospital here Saturday.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitmus, he was born at Round Valley, Nebraska February 11, 1894.

He was married February 11, 1915, his birthday, to Esther Frances Cunningham at Broken Bow. She survives him, as do five children: Martha, Mrs. Jeanette Zimmerman, Raymond Jr, Theodore and Lloyd. Another daughter died in infancy.

Also surviving are his stepfather, Thomas Wakefield of Herman, two brothers: Fred and Lloyd of Broken Bow; a sister, Mrs. Mary Coffman of Gates, Nebraska, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Herman, the Rev. A.W. Clarke officiating. Interment followed in Herman cemetery.
