James “Olie” Olsen, 70 of Blair died Wednesday, April 16, 1997 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services were Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery with military honors. He served with the See Bee’s in the early 1950s. He was a dealer for the Wilson Seed Corn Company and owned Olie’s Tavern in Blair for 10 years. He also worked at Omaha Public Power District for 24 years.

Olsen was born Nov. 23, 1926 in Omaha to James Sylvester and Dorothy D. (Gustin) Olsen. He grew up on the family farm north of Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1945. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer at one time. He served in the US Navy from August of 1945 to August of 1946. He also served with the See Bee’s in the early 1950s. He was a dealer for the Wilson Seed Corn Company and owned Olie’s Tavern in Blair for 10 years. He also worked at Omaha Public Power District for 24 years.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blair American Legion and the Blair Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors are his five children, James of Blair; Thomas of Newport Beach, Calif.; Tim of Blair; Julie Ann Olsen of Omaha; Terri Olsen of Omaha; three grandchildren, Andrew, Zach and Alec; his mother, Dorothy of Carter Lake, Iowa; a sister, Ella Mae Skinner of Carter Lake; two brothers, Steve and Stan, both of Carter Lake and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, George.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
