A memorial service was held Monday, May 13 at The Lauritzen Theatre at Dana College for Vera Jeanette Hedelund Hunt, 75 who died May 8, 1996 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, following a severe heart attack.

Vera Jeanette Hedelund Hunt was born in Blair August 23, 1920 to George Theodore and Vera Elizabeth McCraken Hedelund. She lived with her family for a time in Washington, Nebraska and Kennard, Nebraska before the family moved to Blair when she was in high school. She lived in Blair for her entire life, but traveled to Minnesota and Arizona in the summer and winter.

She graduated from Blair High School in 1937 and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. In 1940 she was an Ak-Sar-Ben Countess. She was a member of Chapter EQ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and a 50-year member of McKinley Chapter No. 161 Order of the Eastern Star.

After receiving her education, she worked for several years at the Washington County Bank.

She married Robert C. Hunt June 1, 1942.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Mick Jensen and Robley and Tim Garrigan, all of Blair and four grandchildren, Troy (and wife Karen) Jensen, Abby Jensen and Riley and Casey Garrigan.

Memorials may be directed to Dana College or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
