Lois Opal “Fae” Backman, 87, of Blair, NE died peacefully at Memorial Community Hospital Wednesday, November 18, 2015 surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Lois are scheduled for Saturday November 21st at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will follow the service at the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8.

Lois was born December 6, 1927 in Royal, NE to James W. and Bertha C. (Nielsen) Williby.

Lois was united in marriage to Julius “Jack” Backman on March 6, 1949 in Blair, NE at the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children: Karen Backman, Patricia McAllister, Jacqueline (Tony) Howe and David (Lauren) Backman; grandchildren: Ryan (Bess) McAllister, Courtney and Brittany Howe, Randy (Sarah) Backman and Aubrey (Brian) Nielsen; great-grandchildren: Brock and MaKenna Nielsen, Conor and Jack McAllister and Jaydyn Backman. Other survivors include sister-in-law Fae Williby, many nieces and nephews, cousins Tom Walsh and Doug Nielsen, and special friends Kathy Nemetz and Millie Woodcock.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, brothers Herb, Jim, Lyle, Bill and Glen and sisters Alice, Marveline, Dolores and Jeanine.

Lois devoted her life to babysitting many parents' children, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working the many bazaars and dinners at her church.
