Vera M. Osmera, 76, of Omaha, died on Friday, August 25, in Omaha.

A Mass of Chirstian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at New Cassel Retirement Center, 900 No. 90th St., in Omaha. The Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Vera M. Osmera was born on Dec. 29, 1923, in Herman to Theodore and Mabel (Johnson) Iverson. She attended school in Herman, graduating from Blair High School in 1941. She attended Dana College, where she received her teaching degree.

On Jan. 22, 1944, she was married to George Osmera in Lyons.

Mrs. Osmera started her teaching career at the Arizona School, east of Tekamah. She also taught at Long Creek and McCarthy Schools , south of Blair, and in the Blair Public Schools before moving to Omaha in 1957. She taught for the Omaha Pulbic Schools for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Omaha Teachers Association.

For the past five years, she had been a resident of the New Cassel Retirement Center, where she also worshipped.

She is survived by a son, Robert Osmera of Tekamah; son and daughter-iin-law, James and Danielle Osmera of Omaha; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Allan Iverson of Herman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Joe Firtch of Blair, Lila and Raymond Christensen of Omaha, and a sister, Carol Podjenski, also of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
