Harry D. Osterman, 74, of McCook died March 14, 2001, at McCook Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held March 17 at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook, with Father Gary Brethous officiating. American Legion Color Guard provided honors during interment at the Calvary Cemetery in McCook.

Harry D. Osterman was born April 19, 1926 in Arlington to Harry R. and Euphemia Lynn (Wolfe) Osterman. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1944.

He entered the U.S. Navy on April 25, 1944, and served during World War II on the USS Matanikau. He was honorable discharged on June 1, 1946.

On Nov. 17, 1951, he married Mary L. Affleck in Ogallala.

Mr. Osterman was employed by the Ogallala TRW. In 1966, he was transferred to the McCook TRW, and worked for 28 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and was a past member of the Ogallala Elks Club. He enjoyed reading, model airplanes and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Osterman of McCook, and Jeff and Kathy Osterman of Indianola, daughters and sons-in-law, Claralynn and Stan Wudtke and Nancy and Brian Harris, all of McCook, a brother and sister-in-law, Roscoe and Beverly Osterman of Fremont, a sister, Beverly Paulson of Carroll, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook was in charge of arrangements.
