Mr. Spanton Dead at 86

Longtime Blairite, Father of 11 Children, Buried Yesterday

Walter E. Spanton, 86, long a Blair farmer and the father of 11 children, died early Monday at Blair Hospital. He had been hospitalized several days.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary at 2 p.m. yesterday, the Rev. Melvon Ireland of First Methodist Church officiating, and interment was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Mr. Spanton and his family came to Blair from Bellevue in 1918. Of late years Mr. Spanton had lived east of Blair near the Missouri River.

Survivors include six sons, Roy Spanton of Blair, Clyde of Idaho, Morris of Bagley, Minn., Verne of Washington State and Dwaine and Bert Spanton of Blair; and five daughters, Mrs. George Dennis (Velma) of Tekamah, Mrs. Leon Wickham (Vail) of Omaha, Miss Grace Spanton of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Dick Williams (Veria) of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Spencer Robeson (Vinta) of Albany, N. Y.
