MARY A. CADDOCK, 92

Services for Mary A. Caddock, 92 who died February 8, 1994 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair were Friday, February 11 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. A service followed at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with burial in the Atlantic, Iowa Cemetery.

Mary A. Caddock was born October 30, 1901 to Miles and Lucy Blair Tyrrell near Wisner, Nebraska.

She graduated from the Nebraska State Normal School in 1925. She then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1929 with a bachelor of science degree. In 1935, she received her master’s degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

She taught in the Hartington, Nebraska school system. She then taught high school science courses in the Blair High School. In about 1940 she taught a year or two at the university in Miami, Iowa and then moved to Upton, Wyoming where she taught high school science courses the entire time she was there.

She married Raymond Caddock in 1943 and they lived in Upton until 1952.

He retired in 1952 and they moved back to Blair where he farmed a small acreage, read city meters and was custodian at North School. She again taught in the Blair Schools, teaching the sons and daughters of the first students she had taught in Blair. She taught until her retirement. She had resided at Crowell Home for the past 14 years.

She was active in the American Association of University Women. She also belonged to the Keystone Bible Chapel in Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; two sisters, Cora and Leota; and five brothers, Miles, Leslie, Vern, Omar and Owen.

Among her survivors are numerous nieces and nephews, including one niece, Leota Chambers Knudsen who lived with her from 1935-39 and attended Blair High School for four years.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
