Services for George G. Lemley, who died at the Good Shepherd Home on Sunday, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 1989 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. Masonic services were at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Lemley was born on October 27, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dr. George and Hazel Grantham Lemley. He attended Omaha Tech High School. On October 10, 1934, he married Florine Conrad in Papillion, Nebraska. He worked in Vancouver, Washington during the war helping build ships. He lived in Omaha until 1960 at which time he moved to rural Fort Calhoun. He owned and operated the lemley furniture business from 1931 until 1980 at which time he retired. He also was a licensed auctioneer and auctioned in the Omaha and Blair area for many years.

He was a member of the Nebraska Masonic Lodge # 1 and Tangier Shrine of Omaha. He was past chief of Omaha Auxiliary Fire Depart and belonged to the Nebraska State Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He was a special Deputy Sheriff for Douglas County and a Deputy Sheriff in Washington County for five years. He was a member of the American National Red Cross Disaster Committee in 1952.

He is survived by his wife, Florine (Connie) Lemley of Fort Calhoun; two daughters, Carol, Mrs. Dean Ray of Blair and Sharon Germar of Omaha; his mother Hazel Lemley of Omaha; four grandchildren, Michael Germar of Fort Calhoun, Mrs. Richard (Julie) Spomer of Omaha, Richard and Ryan Ray of Blair and one great grandson, Eric Allen Spomer of Omaha. Numerous nephews and nieces also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. George Lemley and one sister, Florence Graske.
