Marilyn J. Brummel-Haines, 54, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, died in her sleep Monday, April 16, 2007 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Marilyn J. Brummel was born Jan 18, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Lester and Louise Brummel. She was baptized at Disciples of Christ Church in Oskaloosa and was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair.

She graduated from Oskaloosa High School, and received a bachelors of science in social work from Dana College in 1993. Her work took her to several nursing homes and hospitals in the metro area. She worked with adult day cares and hospice care.

She married William Haines on July 20, 2002, at First Lutheran Church. He survives her, as do her daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Christopher Skinner of Modale, Iowa, and Sara and Eric Acker of Blair; seven grandchildren; mother, Louise Brummel of Oskaloosa; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. B. Lee and Jackie Brummel of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Charlene Brummel of Davenport, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Claude Zylstra of Pella, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester; brother, Kenneth Brummel; son, Jason Alan Bye; and infant twin granddaughters.
