Former Blair priest Monsignor Edward C. O'Donnell, 96, died Jan. 30, 2011, in Omaha.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Omaha. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Edward C. O'Donnell was born Dec. 16, 1914, to Patrick F. and Agnes O'Donnell.

He served as a World War II Army Chaplain.

He served at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair from 1949 until 1960, and was responsible for building the church.

He is survived by his sister, Sister Marie Patrice O'Donnell, O.P.; sisters-in-law, Marie O'Donnell and Janie O'Donnell; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis, Herman, John, Martin, Patrick, Leo, Bernard, Bill, Rev. Ralph M., Danny and Terry; sisters, Helen, Mary Agnes and Alice.

Memorials are suggested to the Archdiocese of Omaha Seminary Fund or Holy Cross Church.
