VERENA LUND

Verena B. Lund was born in Arlington on Feb. 18, 1920, to Albert and Bertha (Laaker) Lund.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington. She was raised along with her sister and brother on her parents’ farm near Arlington. After graduating from Arlington High School, she attended Midland College in Fremont for one year. In 1942, she moved to Pasadena, Calif., where she worked for many years as a secretary and later as a legal assistant.

She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Pasadena. In 2012, after suffering a stoke, she moved to the San Diego area to be near her niece. She passed away on May 6, 2014, after a short illness.

She is survived by her sister, Elna Sievers of Englewood, Colo.; three nieces, Susan Kirch of Denver; Mary Scott of Golden, Colo.; and janet Kelso of Lakeside, Calif.; three nephews, Gregg Lund of Fremont; Dave Lund of North Platte, and Gary Lund of Norfolk. She is also survived by numerous grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Lund; sister-in-law, Marie Lund; and brother-in-law, Wilmer Sievers.

Services were held on May 23 at Mountain View Cemetery Chapel in Altadena, Calif., with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.
