The death of Mrs. Alex Carter occurred last Friday at her home about six miles north of Blair. Deceased is well-known in the county, having lived here since the early days. Some two years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never recovered and from that time she has been an invalid. The funeral took place from the residence yesterday at 10 o’clock, Rev. J.L. Vallow officiating.

To the many neighbors and friends who so tenderly ministered to the comfort of our dear mother through her long and painful sickness, we, the undersigned, wish to express our gratitude, and will ever pray that in your night of affliction there may not be wanting kind hands to minister unto you, nor loving friends to comfort you.

Mrs. Rocelia A. Carter (nee Hitchcock) was born in Eaton county, Mich., May 30, 1843, and died at her home near Blair, March 29, 1901, aged nearly 58 years. With her parents she came to Nebraska in 1856, and in 1861 was married to Alexander Carter who departed this life some years since. Of this union three sons and four daughters were born, of whom Walter S. and Orin B. Carter and Mrs. Lulu L. Peck survive. She joined the M.E. church in 1872 and adorned her profession by a consistent life until her departure.
