Verda Knoell

Verda V. Knell, 88, of Fremont died Aug. 20, 2014, at Fremont Health Medical Center.

Verda was born Jan. 18, 1826, to Carl and Mary (Petersen) Carlberg at Arlington.

She grew up near Arlington, and was a 1943 graduate of Arlington High School. She worked in the credit office for Sears in Omaha, in the office at the May Museum, as an inspector at Tek Services and part-time receptionist at Moser Memorial Chapel. She resided in Fremont most of her life.

Verda married Duane “Tiny” Knoell on Sept. 20, 1958, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont He preceded her in death on June 17, 2006.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a sewing group. She loved playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren, sewing and needlework.

She is survived by son, Dr. Daren Knoell (and wife, Dr. Karen Ramsay Knoell) of Hilliard, Ohio; daughter, Darla Jennings of Fremont; sister-in-law, Elaine Knoell of Fremont; three grandchildren , Oliver Knoell of Toledo, Ohio, Chloe Knoell of Columbus, Ohio, and Jerry Jenning of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Francis, Rolin, Walis and Milton Carlberg; sisters-in-law, Eunice Blanche, Mona and Gertrude Carlberg; and brother-in-law, Everrett Knoell.

The funeral will be 10:30a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. J.W. Berry will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nebraska Children’s Home Society and Salem Lutheran Church.
