Simonsen Theodore “Ted” 10/1971

Note: the 1930 US Census shows his given name was Theadoer (Theodore?) and he was the son of John W. and Carrie Simonsen. In 1930, Ted was single, 21, and living on the family farm in Cuming Township, Washington County, Nebraska. His father came from Denmark, and his mother was born in Nebraska.

Ted Simonsen Buried in Omaha Tuesday, Oct. 5

Funeral services were held in Omaha last week for Ted Simonsen, former Blair man whose family is well known here. The deceased was born in Blair but had lived in Omaha for a number of years. Death was attributed to a heart attack which he suffered in mid-September. He was hospitalized two weeks. He was 62 years old.

The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Simonsen, who were farmers north of Blair for many years. He grew up in that neighborhood and was a graduate of Blair High School. He was married to the former Dorothy Sappenfield, also of Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and by two sons and a daughter. The sons are Richard of Watertown, South Dakota and Roger, who is at home in Omaha. The daughter is Mrs. Cora Siena, whose husband in recent weeks has been operating the Blair Marina Café.

He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Carrie Simonsen, who now lives at Hastings, Nebraska. There are five grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers. They are Edwin of California, David of Rochester, Minnesota, Harold of Omaha and Elmer of Omaha.

There are three sisters. They are Mrs. Agnes Henning of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Mrs. Ethel Rasmussen and Mrs. Gladys Wilson, both of Omaha.

Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.
