Charles Bevelheimer

Charles Henry Bevelheimer, son of Alonzo and Lillie Register Bevelheimer, was born November 19, 1900, in Fremont, Nebraska. He died at home on August 6, 1986, in Omaha.

He attended school in the rural Valley and Fremont area from 1906 to 1914. In 1918 he attended Midland College.

Mr. Bevelheimer was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington, in 1953.

He married Mildred Matz on November 21, 1925, and just last year celebrated with her their 60th wedding anniversary. They had five children.

During most of his life Henry worked as a farmer, and he farmed land at Gretna, Yutan, Blair and Bennington. In 1961 he retired from farming, but moved to Westland, Michigan, to start a business with his son.

He owned three meat stores and ran those businesses for many years before returning to Omaha in 1974. He lived in Omaha until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roy Bevelheimer, and a grand¬son, Danny Bevelheimer.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Omaha; one son Donald of Gretna; four daughters; Jacqueline Lang and her husband, Richard, of Simi Valley, California; Shirley Lynn of Gretna; Marcia Rolfs and her husband, Delmar, of Elkhorn; and Norma Houchin and her husband, Donald, of Omaha.

He is also survived by two sisters, Verda Hollander, of Scribner, and Vera Malzahn, of Omaha; seventeen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Swanson Funeral Home, Elkhorn was in charge of arrangements.
