Peter Jensen

Peter Jensen, well-known and highly respected farmer residing near Rose Hill, passed away at the Blair hospital Wednesday afternoon at three thirty o’clock. He had been ailing since in September and recently had come to Blair to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Pieper that he might be near the physician. Becoming worse he was taken to the Blair hospital where he passed away.

Mr. Jensen was born in Denmark and came to this country in early manhood. He settled on his farm in the Rose Hill neighborhood in 1878 and has lived continuously there for fifty-four years. In February of 1878 he was married to Miss Mary Andersen and to them nine children were born, seven of whom are still living; Ludwig Jensen, Mrs. Laura Tofte, Mrs. Walter Sappenfield, Mrs. George Nelson, Mrs. James Ryan and Mrs. Carl Pieper, all of this vicinity, and Clarence Jensen of Fremont, all of whom mourn deeply his death. The wife passed on a number of years ago.

Mr. Jensen was a man of sterling qualities. Always of a cheerful disposition it was a real pleasure to meet him. Strictly honest and upright and with a good word for everybody he had made for himself a place in the hearts of his friends that will be hard to fill.

We have for years counted him among our friends and his pleasant visits on his occasional trips to the office will be greatly missed.

He was a consistent member of the Danish Lutheran church and he lived the part to the fullest extent.

The funeral services will be held Saturday at two p.m. at the Rose Hill church with Rv. Norlin of Herman, officiating and assisted by Rev. John Poucher of Omaha, who is an old friend of the family. Interment will be made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
