Elkhorn man dies following bicycle crash

An Elkhorn man found down after a bicycle crash on a Washington County road Oct. 29 has died.

Michael A. McCrery, 64, died Sunday. A memorial service was Friday at Stonebridge Church.

McCrery was found unconscious and without a pulse at county roads 19 and 38. He was transported by Fremont Advanced Life Support to Fremont Health Medical Center.

Chief Deputy Kevin Willis said Thursday the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause of the crash.

“At this time, we do not know why it happened,” Willis said.

It appeared McCrery had ridden through a stretch of CR 38 that is closed for bridgework between CR 19 and CR 15. He turned southbound on CR 19, which is a paved road, and struck a barrier.
