Pete Christensen Buried In Blair On Thursday

Pete Christensen, Jr., son of Pete and Ethel (Lemon) Christensen, was born September 3, 1930 at Omaha, Nebraska. He died Monday, June 25, at the age of 48 years, 9 months, and 22 days. In 1938, the family moved to Bennington and Pete attended school here.

He was united in marriage to Kathleen Schmucker September 9, 1950. He served as a medical corpsman during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He then returned to the Omaha Transit Co. and also fed cattle with his father for 5 years. From 1960 to 1963 he has been employed at Boys Town.

Pete and Kathy were blessed with a son, Danny, by adoption. Danny has brought joy and complete happiness to Pete’s short life.

Pete confirmed his faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church on November 18, 1962. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; son, Danny; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Skidmore of Bennington, Mrs. Josephine Byers of Omaha, Mrs. Edna Fankerhouser of Humboldt, Mrs. Ruth Taylor of Nashville, Nebraska; one brother, Robert Christensen of Portola, California; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Grave side services were held Thursday, June 28, at 11:00 A.M. at the Blair Cemetery. Mrs. Joyce Johnson sang “The Old Rugged Cross”. Pastor Norman Schroeder officiated. Casket Bearers were: Richard, Eugene and James Hawkins, Frank and Jerry Ostranshy and David Billingsley.

The Hadan-Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
