Peter Cristo, 69

Services for Peter Cristo, 69, who died October 9 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha after a heart attack were held October 13 at the Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun with Fr. James Schwertley officiating. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.

Peter Cristo was born March 24, 1923 in New Castle, Wyoming to Pete and Anna Kurre Cristo. Soon after his birth the family moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota.

He was very athletic and enjoyed the beautiful, rugged terrain of the Hot Springs area. He worked in his father’s bakery and was an altar boy in the Catholic Church.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army-Air Force. In 1956 he married Betty Thomas in Omaha. They moved to an acreage in Nashville, where he resided until his death. He worked for the Nebraska department of Roads and retired at the age of 62 after over 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; four children, Michael John, Daniel Mark, Thomas Mark and Patricia Ann Cristo, one sister, Aldine Cristo and niece, Anita Tareaguila.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
