Maggie M. Hall, 98, of Estherville, Iowa, died Feb. 11, 2005, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Funeral services were Feb. 15, in Estherville’s East Side Cemetery.

Maggie Mae (Peak) Hall was born July 27, 1906, in Swan Lake Township, Emmet County Iowa, to Phillip and Mary (Ross) Peak. She received her education in the Bolstead School in Swan Lake Township and Maple Hill High School.

On July 3, 1923, she married Fred H. Hall in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The couple worked on cattle ranches in Texas and Wyoming before homesteading in North Dakota. They moved back to Emmet County in 1938. Mr. Hall farmed and Mrs. Hall worked in Estherville as a cook, dishwasher, and pie maker at the Majestic Café and Casa Loma.

Mrs. Hall was an active member of the Church of Christ in Estherville, and was a volunteer in the “Babes” program for drug awareness for 20 years. She also volunteered with the Dinner Date program.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and cooking.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her children, Joyce Hiney of Armstrong, Iowa; Jewell and Jim Matre of Phoenix, Ariz.; Doris Klingbell of Estherville, Iowa; Clyde and Janice Hall of Estherville; Clayton Hall and his wife, Jannie Vea, of Biloxi, Miss; Donna Lange of Blair; Sharon and Jerry Sents of Apex, N.C; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Haerlan of Elma, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1976; a grandson, a sister Louisa; a brother, Phillip; and three sons-in-law.
