JAMES E. CLARK, 62

James E. Clark Jr., 62, of Springfield, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice after a 10-year battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home in Springfield, with interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

James E. “Jim” Clark was born in Springfield to James E. and Norma (Luparell) Clark. He attended Lamphier High School and, since the age of 14, had enjoyed playing bass guitar in rock ‘n’ roll bands. His bands included the Stingrays, Stoned Creation, and Parallel. He also enjoyed attending stock car races.

On Aug. 23, 1975, he married Lucy MacDonald in Blair. She survives him, as do two sons, James W. Clark of Mount Aubun, and Braxton L. Clark of Springfield; a daughter, Kelly M. Clark of Springfield; his parents, both of Springfield; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Kathy Clark and Gary and Sharon Clark, all of Springfield; sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie Clark and JoAnn and Mike Heffern, all of Springfield; mother-in-law, Mary MacDonald of Blair; sisters-in-law and husbands, Mary K. and Earl Larsen of Blair, and Annie and Bob Krueger of Arlington; brother-in-law and wife, Dan and Brenda MacDonald of Blair; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Clark.
