Graveside services for Dr. Duane L. Cady, 78 of El Paso, Texas, who died November 28, 1989 were Friday, December 1 at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. Rev. H. Eugene Myrcik officiated.

Duane L. Cady was born September 13, 1911 in Fremont. He grew up in Arlington and was a 1929 graduate of Arlington High School. He graduated from Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1934 and joined the United States Army in 1935. He served as Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Chief of Veterinary Medicine in North Africa and retired with the rank of colonel. He moved to El Paso in 1946.

He was past president of the El Paso Veterinary Medicine Association, was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the El Paso Scottish Rite Bodies and the El Maida Shrine Temple.

He married Marie Zeeman in Arlington. She preceded him in death.

He later married Catherine Anderes in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Robert Cady of El Paso; a stepson, Robert Anderes of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Kay Quevedo of El Paso; two brothers, Richard of Seattle, Washington; and Dr. Jack Cady of Arlington; and three grandchildren.

Memorials have been established to the El Paso County Humane Society.
