Coughlin, Daniel "Dan" Lee Age 36 Died on January 12, 2016, as a result of an auto accident. Dan was born on May 13, 1979 (Mother's Day), to Carole and Don Coughlin in Omaha, NE. He graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1997 and worked at Cargill in Blair and Hormel in Fremont. He attended the Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy and graduated in 2014, joining the Colfax County Sheriff's Department as a second generation road patrol deputy. Dan was an avid car collector, fisherman, jet skier and drag racer at Scribner Race Track. The family has strong memories of Dan gathering up his nephews and his daughter and taking them to the Fremont State Lakes to camp and fish. Dan's lifelong willingness to help others lives on through his final act of organ donation. Preceded in death by grandparents, Dorothy Skalberg of Shenandoah, IA; Gail and James Coughlin Sr. of Omaha; aunt Cathy Clark and uncle Robert Coughlin both of Omaha. He leaves behind his 5-year-old daughter Addisen who was the love of his life. He is survived by his parents, Carole and Don Coughlin; brother Kyle (Amy) Coughlin of Fremont; nephews, Dawson and Drew Coughlin of Fremont; significant other Karleen Meyer of Fremont; grandfather Carroll Skalberg of Shenandoah; uncles and aunts, Terry (Marsha) Skalberg of Red Oak, IA, Randy (Jamie) Skalberg of Essex, IA, Michael (Sherry) Coughlin of Omaha, James (Jane) Coughlin of Omaha, Ron (Kerri) Coughlin of Omaha; special lifelong friends, Chad Ferrari and Joel Fredrickson of Fremont. VISITATION 4-8pm Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Dugan Funeral Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES 11am Monday, January 18, 2016, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Pastor Stephanie Tollefson and Pastor Scott Jensen will officiate. In memory of Dan his family suggests that all in attendance wear something blue. Memorials have been established to the family.
