Doris M. Harper, 77

Doris M. Harper, 77, of Blair died of cancer on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Country Bible Church, two miles north of Blair. Pastor Greg Fox will officiate.

Doris Mae Durham was born Dec. 1, 1920, at Ohiowa to Lloyd and Marie (Simmerman) Durham.

On July 26, 1937, she married Eugene A. Harper. They owned Durham Transfer where Doris took care of the bookkeeping portion of the business out of their Omaha home.

They lived for a short time in Tucson, Ariz., but returned to the Fort Calhoun area where they operated the DeSoto Grocery and Gas Station just north of Fort Calhoun. After a number of years in Gravette, Ark., they returned to Blair where they lived at Parkview Manor.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, crafts, and most of all, her family, which included five children.

She was a member of Country Bible Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and LaDonna Harper of Omaha and Clude and Sheila Harper of Dewey, Ariz.; two daughters, Pat and husband, Bill Hineline, of DeSoto and Lynn Rios of Blair; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVeda Langle of Omaha and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; one daughter, Carol Melson; one sister, Norma Klinkefus and one brother, Donald Durham.
