Lorraine B. Holmes, 85, of Fremont died Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Dr. Stanley Menking will officiate. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Holmes was born July 7, 1911 at Kennard to David and Jennie (Stewart) Pritchard. She grew up in Kennard. She lived in Chicago for 14 years. During World War II, she worked in a factory in Chicago. She moved to Blair in 1943 and then to Omaha in 1957. She was a checker for 14 years at the Safeway Grocery Stores in Blair and Omaha. She moved to Fremont in 1967 and worked at the former Tempo store from 1968 to 1970. On Oct. 8, 1929 she married Keith J. Menking at Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death April 13, 1963. On Sept. 8, 1965, she married Rolland B. Holmes in Omaha. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1994.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 Auxiliary in Fremont.

Survivors are two sons, Dr Stanley J. Menking of Dallas, Tex; and George D. Menking of Santa Fe, N.M.; step-sons, Bernard Holmes of Omaha and Larry Holmes of Kirkland, Wash.; two step-daughters; Nancy (Mrs. Don) Hadan of Round-Rock, Tex. and Cynthia (Mrs. Arthur) Ray of Nickerson; two sisters, Beatrice (Mrs. Perry) Eggers of Yakima, Wash; and Maxine Ericksen of Anaheim, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Walter Jensen of Fremont; 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a brother, David Pritchard and four sisters; Editha Anderson, Jean Baker, Davena Bailey and Bernice Jensen.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
