Verna Faye Helmsing, 91, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living Center, Warrenton, Missouri, surrounded by her family. Verna was the daughter of the late Henry and Carrie Schultz) Utterman*. Verna was married on November 8, 1945, to Leo Charles Helmsing. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2006.

Verna was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Foristell, MO. She was also a proud member of the Shiloh United Methodist Women.

Verna is survived by her son, Terry L. Helmsing and wife Sandy, of Foristell, MO; daughter, Pam Helmsing of Marthasville, MO; granddaughters: Amanda Paul, Tara Morgan and husband Jason, Chelsea Nyhoff and husband Brett; and great-grandsons Joshua and Preston Paul. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews in the Washington County, NE, area.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five sisters: Helena Jensen, Wilma Plugge, Mildred Butterfield, Dorothy Plugge and Carrie Rosenbaum.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. January 18 at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shiloh UMC Building Fund or Vision Christian Church Building Fund.
