Gerald “Jerry” Harper, 50

Gerald “Jerry” Harper, 50, of Blair died Monday, May 11, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery with military honors.

Gerald “Jerry” Harper was born March 29, 1948, in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Gerald and Gladys (Hartvig) Harper. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1966.

He married Jannie Stitchler in 1967. The couple had one son, Robbie.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1967 and served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.

On April 3, 1976, he married Connie Frish in Omaha.

He was a foreman in the steel department at Kelly Ryan Equipment Co. in Blair, where he worked for 19 ½ years.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1251 and the Am Vets Post 8 in Blair.

Survivors are his wife, Connie; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Gerri Harper of Council Bluffs, Iowa; granddaughter, Shelby; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dennis Stark of Council Bluffs; brother, Terry, of Texas; goddaughter Lorelei Pedersen of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Priscilla Frish of Mondamin, Iowa, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gerald and Jani Houston of Dunlap, Iowa, Ghirlie Frish and Bev Allison of Little Sioux, Iowa, Paul and Julie Pedersen of Kentucky; special friend, Am Vets Commander Deb Wehrli; and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
