Gladys Harper, 70

Gladys Marie Harper, 70 of Council Bluffs, Iowa and formerly of Missouri Valley, Iowa died Tuesday, March 18, 1997 at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hennessey-Hurley-Aman Chapel in Missouri Valley. Rev. Ron Wymer is officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Garden in Missouri Valley.

Harper was born Dec. 10, 1926 in Dunlap, Iowa to Emil and Mary (Jones) Hartwig. On April 19, 1947, she married Gerald B. Harper in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived in Missouri Valley until moving to Council Bluffs in 1968.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Stark of Council Bluffs; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Connie Harper of Blair and Terry Harper of Texas; sisters, Edith Jenkins of Woodbine, Iowa; Ruth (Mrs. Dell) O’Day of Dunlap; Helen Mahlberg of Dunlap; a sister-in-law, Rita Hartwig of Dunlap; grandchildren, Robbie Harper, Jennifer Harper, Teri Harper, Dusty Stark and Jake Stark and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald on Sept. 10, 1975; her parents and a brother, Harold Hartwig.

Casket bearers are Chris Oden, Kevin Wilke, Dave Hartwig, Bill O’Day, Dave Winigar and Raymond (Butch) Schulte.

Honorary bearers are Jackie Beam, Sandra Nano, Betty Winigar, Kim Hartwig, Peggy Wilke and Rozanne Gross.
