Lola M. Hamke, 78, of Blair, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Alegent Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m.

Lola Mae Hamke was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Wolbach to John and Christine Swingholm. She graduated from Blair High School and grew up in Blair.

On Feb. 2, 1952, she married William Henry Hamke at St. John’s Catholic Church in Omaha. They lived in several locations in the United States before settling in Blair in 1971. Mrs. Hamke was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary and Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary for several years, and was a member of the MCH Retirees Club.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul W. and Laura Hamke of Lovettsville, Va., Carl H. and Kaylene Hamke of Olathe, Kan., Phillip R. Hamke of Omaha, Joseph L. and Kim Hamke of Blair, John R. and Jana Hamke of Gravity, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie C. and Max A Harris of Blair; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, John Swingholm, also of Blair; sisters, Dorothy Brooks of Columbia, Mo., Kathryn Bauer of Blair, Ruby Clements of Simi Valley, Calif., Mary Ann Swingholm and Carlene Gardner, both of Blair, Patsy Blinn of Sun City West, Ariz., Petty Ray of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1994, and a brother, Richard.
