Services for William H. Hamke, age 67 of Omaha and formerly of Norfolk Veterans Home, who died November 7, 1994 at the Thomas Fitzgerald Veterans home will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 10 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

The rosary is 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William Henry Hamke was born March 24, 1927 at Vincennes, Indiana to Carl and Mary Lochart Hamke. He attended school in Vincennes.

He entered the Army in June of 1945. He was discharged in November of 1946.

He worked as a foreman for the Fruehauf Company in Omaha for 20 years. He was a member of the Blair American Legion and Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He had resided in the Norfolk Veterans Home from 1981 until moving to the Thomas Fitzgerald Veterans Home in Omaha in August of 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are six children: Paul of Mountain View, California; Carl and wife, Kaylene of Omaha, Nebraska; Laurie Harris and husband, Max of Blair, Phillip and wife Vicki of Blair, Joseph of Blair, and John and wife Jana of Omaha; eight grandchildren and one sister, Martha Hamke of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home of Blair, Nebraska.
