Donald R. Hamre, 67, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at his home in Arlington.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Arlington Community Church. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by members of American Legion Post No. 71 and VFW Post No. 8332, both of Arlington.

Donald R. Hamre was born June 5, 1939, at Thief River Falls, Minn., to Edward and Gertrude Hamre. He grew up at Bagley, Minn., and graduated from high school at Virginia, Minn.

He served in the U.S. Army reserves from 1957 to 1964. He moved to Omaha in November 1959 and to Arlington in 1971. He was yard superintendent for Peter Kiewit & Sons Construction Co.

He was a member of the Arlington Community Church; American Legion Post No. 71 of Arlington, where he was a 32-year member; former president of the Arlington Veterans Club; and he coached youth baseball for 18 years at Arlington and at Omaha.

On July 27, 1963, he married Roberta “Robbi” Evans at Elk Point, S.D. She survives him, as do three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Pam Hamre and Eric and Cheryl Hamre, all of Arlington, and Jay and Michelle Hamre of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Keith Miskie of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; mother, Gertrude Hamre of Wahoo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Pat Hamre of Blair, and Gene and Barbara Hamre of The Colony, Texas; sister, Pat Bohn of Wahpeton, N. D; special friends, Charlie and Val Meyer of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother-in-law, Mayble Boyden; and father-in-law, Earl Evans.

Memorials are suggested to Arlington Youth Sports, the Arlington Veterans Club, and the Arlington Community Church Pioneer Club.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
