Services for Shirley A. Hancock, 60 who died October 16, 1995 in Lincoln are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19 at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Shirley A. Hancock was born October 3, 1935 to Harold and Mildred Carlson Ryan on a farm near Herman. She attended school in Herman until 1944 when they moved to Osceola, Iowa where she completed her high school education.

She attended nurses training at Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1956.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She wrote a book on the Hancock Family Tree from genealogical research she dad done.

She married James Hancock August 17, 1956.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, James; a daughter, Tara of Longmont, Colorado; sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell of Austin, Texas and Steve and Lisa of Waxhaw, North Carolina; a grandson, Ryan of Waxhaw; sisters, Patricia Walstrom of Omaha; Norma Ryan of Sidney and Catherine Ryan of Los Angeles, California.

Memorials may be directed to Bryan Memorial Hospital’s Lung Transplant Program or the charity of the giver’s choice.
