Merriam Cooperman, 82

Merriam Cooperman, 82, of Omaha, died Aug. 1, 1999.

A graveside service was 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Beth El Cemetery, 84th and L in Omaha.

Married for 61 years to Harold Cooperman, CEO of No Frills Supermarkets, she helped him start his first grocery store in 1938.

She later served as corporate secretary-treasurer for Harold’s Supermarkets and No Frills Supermarkets.

She served as president of the Omaha Artists Association. She drove a Red Cross Bloodmobile and transported handicapped children to school. She was a longtime member of Beth El Synagogue, Hadassah, B’nai B’rith Amit and the National Council of Jewish Women.

She was honored with an Israel Bond Dinner.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Richard Juro; grandchildren, Kevin Juro, Kimara and Kevin Clark, and Keri and Tom Lawley; sister-in-law, Helen Gould; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to Harold and Merriam Cooperman Senior Service Fund, Rose Blumkin Home, 333 South 132nd St., Omaha.
