Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Jane Corbin of Herman were held Tuesday, April 2, at the Hamel and Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ivan R. Rymes, pastor of the first Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mr. Eugene Chamberlain sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God to Thee”, accompanied by Mrs. Reuben Svoboda on the piano. Pallbearers were H. J. Wragge, Archie B. Corbin, Earl Haswell, John R. Dye, George Briggs and Gordon Cram. Graveside rites were conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star. Burial was in the Tekamah cemetery.

Eva Jane Pratt Corbin was born at Silver Springs, N.Y., June 30,1888, and died at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair March 30 at the age of 74 years, following a 2 ½ month illness.

She was educated in the public and normal high schools of Buffalo, N.Y., until September, 1905 when she came to Nebraska at the age of 17 with her mother and brother to live near relatives in Tekamah. She graduated with the class of 1908 in Tekamah.

She was united in marriage to Leo F. Corbin March 10, 1915, and to this union two children, Leo Francis, Jr. and Betty Jane, were born. Mr. Corbin preceded her in death February 5, 1932.

At the time of her death Mrs. Corbin had been a member of Tekamah Chapter No. 131, Order of the Eastern Star, for many years. Although not a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tekamah, she had been active in its activities and those of the Tekamah American Legion Auxiliary until recent years. She began losing her hearing at the early age of 12 years, and for many years had been totally deaf. She had, however become competent in the art of lip reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Russell Trotter, of Herman, with whom she had always made her home; a son, Leo, of Hooper, Nebr.; one brother, Lyman C. Pratt, of Omaha; and two granddaughters, Sue Ann Corbin, attending the University of Nebraska; and Beth Lynn Corbin, of Hooper.
