Irene D. Cornwell, 91

Irene D. Cornwell, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at her farm home in southern Washington County.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Irene D. Cornwell was born June 1, 1916, in Lindsay. She lived there until moving to Omaha as a young adult. She met Damon Cornwell in Omaha, and the couple married on Sept. 24, 1941. They lived in west Omaha until 1946, when they purchased the Washington County farm where they have lived since that time.

Mrs. Cornwell was active in many of the activities of the Wranch School District; the Wranch-Maney Extension Club; Blair Eagles Auxiliary; 4-H leadership; Make It Yourself with Wool; and St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

She loved sewing, bowling, shopping and dancing.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Damon; daughter, Joan Shuminski; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Joyce Cornwell; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Cornwell; and six brothers and sisters.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Cornwell-Irene, age 91 of Blair died Thursday August 16th. Irene is survived by her husband Damon Cornwell, son Todd and wife Joyce of Blair, daughter Joan Shuminski of Omaha, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair at 10:00 AM Monday August 20. Visitation will be held at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair on Sunday August 19th beginning at 10:00 AM. Family will received friends form 6-8 PM. A rosary services will be held at 8 PM.
