AUGUST NELSON

August Nelson, who was buried in the Ft. Calhoun (Neb.) cemetery Dec. 23, 1913, was born in Sweden in November, 1859, came to the United States in 1881 and to Nebraska in 1884 and bought a Coffman hill and scrub farm, where by diligent labor he made the land into a good farm. When this writer first knew him, probably twenty-five years ago, he was the largest poultry grower we knew in the county and was afterwards known for his successful apple and honey growing. Up to the time of his illness a few years ago he was making a great success of the farm. He leaves a wife and two children, the youngest about six and the eldest about sixteen. His brother, Gustav O. Nelson, lives near him. Besides other relatives in the United States and Sweden, he has a brother in Sweden with a life office as a teacher, who has been in this country two or three times and called upon this writer with one of his brothers.

There was a good attendance from the house to the cemetery. Rev. Dr. Ramsey of the Omaha university officiated. The music was by the young people of his neighborhood.
