Marian L. Haney, 79, of Blair, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown, S.D.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday May 23, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Marian Louise Nelson was born March 12, 1929, on the farm near Kranzburg, S.D., to Otto and Dorothy (Miller) Nelson. She graduated from Goodwin High School in 1947.

On Sept. 21, 1947, she married Elwood Haney at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown. The couple operated a dairy farm southwest of Watertown for 20 years. After selling the dairy, they moved into Watertown. Mrs. Haney was the bookkeeper fro the Lake Area Veterinary Clinic, and also clerked at sales for the Locken Auction Company in Watertown.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Women at the church in Watertown.

In 1992, they moved to Blair to be closer to their son, Bob. Mrs. Haney delivered feed in the Dakotas and Minnesota for her son’s business, and later worked as a sales clerk for Bomgaar’s in Blair.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Mrs. Haney enjoyed gardening, dancing, and loved her flowers and animals.

She is survived by her husband, Elwood; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jon Surma of Rapid City, S.D.; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Donna Haney of Blair; two grandchildren; one great- granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Chuck Olson of Watertown; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Nancy Nelson of Vermillion, S. D.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul.
