Benson - Hansen

On Wednesday evening, November 14, at six o clock at the Bethany church (sic) south of town, occurred the marriage of Leona Benson, daughter of Mrs. N. A. Benson, to Aaron Hansen of Blair. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. E. Nielsen. The couple was attended by Lydia Hansen, sister of the groom, and Arnold Hansen, cousin of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are spending a few days at Blair and will soon be at home to their many friends on a farm south of town. They have the best wishes and congratulations of a host of friends.

Aaron M. Hansen was born June 21, 1905 at Blair, Nebraska to Mads P. and Paulena (Paulsen) Hansen. He was baptized January 21, 1906 and confirmed May 9, 1920 at First Lutheran Church at Blair. He attended Cumming City School in rural Blair.

On November 14, 1934 he married Leona Benson at Ruskin, Nebraska. He farmed at Ruskin until 1939, at which time they moved to Blair where he continued to farm. In 1956 he started working for the City of Blair, and worked until retiring in 1986. He died November 17, 1996 at Blair.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Leona; daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Roland Davis, Pearl and Don Rathjen, all of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and George Hansen, Ridgefield, Connecticut; a sister, Lydia (Mrs. Arnold Hansen), Ruskin; seven grandchildren, Dean and Dawn Ann Rathjen, Barbara Ross, Kurt Davis, Cori Smith, Colin and Colby Hansen; five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Scott and Jason Ross, Maren Hansen, and Emily Smith. Preceding him in death were his parents; granddaughter, Denise Leigh Rathjen; seven brothers and sisters, Carrie, Bertha, Mary, Hans P.M., Edward, Martin, and James Hansen.

Funeral services were held November 20, 1996 at First Lutheran Church, Blair. Interment was in Blair Cemetery at Blair.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wed., Nov. 20 at First Lutheran Church in Blair for Aaron Hansen, 91, who died Nov. 17, 1996 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

#3 Aaron Hansen was born June 21, 1905 in Blair to Mads P. and Paulena Paulsen Hansen. He attended Cuming City School.

He married Leona Benson Nov. 14, 1934 in Ruskin, Nebr. He farmed at Ruskin until moving to Blair in 1939 where he also farmed. Later he worked for the city of Blair from 1956 to 1986.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Denise Leigh Rathjen and seven brother and sisters, Carrie Hansen, Bertha Hansen, Hans P.M. Hansen, Edward Hansen, Martin Hansen, James Hansen and Mary Hansen.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Roland Davis and Pearl and Don Rathjen, all of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Georgia Hansen, Ridgefield, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Dean Rathjen, Dawn Anne Rathjen, Barbara Ross, Kurt Davis, Cori Smith, Colin Hansen and Colby Hansen; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Ross, Scott Ross, Jason Ross, Maren Hansen and Emily Smith and one sister, Lydia Hansen, Ruskin.

Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Home.
