Allan D. Hansen, 79, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at the Bryan LGH Hospital East in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the Herman Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion Jackson Peck Post 274.

Allan D. Hansen was born May 9, 1920, to Hans and Josena (Fransen) Hansen in Herman. He attended high school in Herman.

On June 9, 1944, he married Patricia Ryan in Clinton, Ill. He served in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1963 with the 11th Armored Division in England and France during WWII. He was also in the 82nd Ord. H. M. Co. during the Korean War.

He worked as a postal clerk in Columbus for 20 years before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the American Legion and of the Military Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife; six daughters and son-in-law, Nalla Monnahan of Deer Trail, Colo., Anne Ryan of Thornton, Colo., Nancy Hansen, Teresa Hansen and Susan Hansen, all of Columbus and Martine and Terry Bemis of Shelby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Deanna Hansen of Omaha and Tim and Jennette Hansen of Columbus; two sisters and brother-in-law, Lillian and Kenneth Deckard of Tekamah and Marie Goodwin of Kearney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lyle and Patricia Hansen of Bartley and Wayne and Alice of Cambridge; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
