AMANDA HANSEN DIED AT HOSPITAL SUNDAY, OCT. 12

Amanda Hansen, a resident of Blair for many years, died Sunday at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She was 88 years old.

She was born on a farm 3 miles north of Hampton, Nebraska February 11, 1881. She received her education in the Hampton rural and town schools and later attended the Fremont Normal College which was a forerunner of the present Midland College.

In 1906 she accepted a teaching position at Dana College and for 10 years she taught music. After that she took up sewing and dress making and gave piano lessons, living on west Jackson Street until 1955. At that time she entered the Good Shepherd Home and has been a resident there since that time.

She is survived by one sister, Augusta Nielsen, who lives in Los Angeles. There are also 7 nieces and 3 nephews who survive.

Ray Lund, Ruth and Lona Lund, of Blair are nieces and nephew and they are the only local relatives.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church, Wednesday, October 15th with the Rev. Robert Albers conducting the service. Burial under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home, was made in the Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hansen, P. V. Hansen, Marius Hansen, Richard Zimmerman, Jr., Kermit Goll and C. C. Madsen.
