Services for Arnold Samuel Hansen, 85 who died July 20, 1994 at the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska were Saturday, July 23 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska. Rev. Richard Buchholtz officiated. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin.

Arnold Samuel Hansen was born November 9, 1908 on a farm south of Ruskin to Alfred and Jenscena Houtwed Hansen. He was baptized December 25, 1908 and was confirmed June 8, 1924 at Bethany Lutheran Church where he had been a member his entire life.

He was educated at District 29 School and Dana College.

He lived on a farm south of Ruskin until moving to Blair in 1935. He returned to Ruskin in 1944 where he lived until 1967. He moved to Bostwick, Nebraska for a few years and then returned to Ruskin where he farmed southwest of Ruskin.

He raised registered Shorthorn cattle for 50 years. He was a DeKalb seed dealer.

He helped as 4-H leader. He served his church as a member of the church board and sang in the church choir for 50 years.

He married Lydia J. Hansen October 6, 1936 at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Harland.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia; their daughters and sons-in-law, Violet and Gary Lipker of Red Cloud, Sandra and Ken Maciejewski of Doniphan and Joyce and Brad Martin of Lincoln; daughter, Linda Dunn of Lincoln; son, Gordon of Omaha; five brothers and their wives, Enos H. and Ruth; Harold and Hildegarde, all of Ruskin; David H. and Eveliene of Hastings; Glen H. of Fulton, California; Edwin H. and Eleanor of Audubon, Iowa; a sister, Martha McIntosh of Superior; 13 grandchildren, Shelley Lipker Bohn, Brent Lipker, Jeff Hansen, Melanie Dunn Mikkelsen, Marcia Dunn Ehlers, Tanya Dunn, Shelley Maciejewski Hoge, Leslie Maciejewski Mliner, Richard Maciejewski, Wendy Drew, Stacy Drew, Braun Martin and Zachary Martin; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Lipker, Jessica Hoge, Jordyn Miner and Quinten Miner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were Richard Hansen, Gary Hansen, Roger Kastrup, Tom Hansen, Bill McIntosh, and Duane Droyhman. DeeAnn Petersen was organist. Hartley Petersen, Wayne Petersen, Eldon Sorensen and Verland Mussman provided some of the music for the services.

Arnold Samuel Hansen, the son of Alfred and Jenscena (sic) (Houtwed) Hansen, was born November 9, 1908, on a farm south of Ruskin, Nebraska, and passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, July 20, 1994, at Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 11 days.

He was baptized December 25, 1908, and confirmed June 8, 1924, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin where he had been a member his entire life. Arnold was educated at District 29 School and Dana College.

October 6, 1936, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska, he was married to Lydia J. Hansen. His union was blessed with one son and four daughters. He lived on a farm south of Ruskin until moving to Blair in 1935. He returned to Ruskin in 1944 where they lived until 1967. They moved to Bostwick, Nebraska, for a few years, then back to Ruskin where they lived while he farmed southwest of Ruskin.

Interests during his life were raising registered Shorthorn cattle for 50 years, serving his church as a member of the Church Board and singing in the church choir for 50 years, being a DeKalb seed dealer and helping as 4-H leader. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very special part of his life. He loved having them visit so he could spend time with each and everyone. He enjoyed visiting with anyone, as long as they were willing to talk.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother Harland (sic).

Survivors include his loving and faithful wife of 57 years, Lydia; their four daughters, Violet Lipker and her husband, Gary of Red Cloud, Linda Dunn of Lincoln, Sandra Maciejewski and her husband Ken, of Doniphan and Joyce Martin and her husband, Brad, of Lincoln; their son, Gordon, of Omaha; five brothers, Enos H. and wife, Ruth, and Harold and wife, Hildegarde, all of Ruskin, David H. and wife, Eveliene, of Hastings, Glenn H. of Fulton, California, and Edwin H. and wife, Eleanor, of Audubon, Iowa; one sister, Martha McIntosh of Superior; 13 grandchildren, Shelly Lipker Bohn, Brent Lipker, Jeff Hansen, Melanie Dunn Mikkelsen, Marcia Dunn Ehlers, Tanya Dunn, Shelley Maciejewski Hoge, Leslie Maciejewski Milner, Richard Maciejewski, Wendy Drew, Stacy Drew, Braun Martin and Zachary Martin; four great grandchildren, Amanda Lipker, Jessica Hoge, and Jordyn and Quinten Mliner (sic); as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
