SERVICES HELD FOR BERTHA HANSEN THURSDAY

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 18, at the Methodist Church in Herman for Bertha Christina Elfreda Hansen.

Bertha Christina Elfreda Hansen was born at Kennard, Nebraska, on April 8, 1899, to Peter and Olena Fransen. She died September 15, 1980, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 7 days at the Oakland, Nebraska hospital.

She moved, with her parents, to Herman, Nebraska, when she was a few months old and attended Hill Creek School. On April 18, 1917, she married George W. Hansen at Blair, Nebraska. They lived in the Herman area most of her life except for a few years spent at Tekamah. In 1964, they retired and moved to Herman.

Elfreda had made her home at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, Nebraska, for the past six years. She entered Oakland Hospital August 19, 1980 where she died.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Lew W. Hansen of Herman, and Bernard L. Hansen of Blackfoot, Idaho; and two daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Irma) Grien of Lyons, Nebraska; and Mrs. Carl (Georgia) Ray of Herman. Twelve grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. Leonard (Lillie) Loftis of Tekamah; Mrs. Elna Merriman of Forest Grove, Oregon; Mrs. Bernard (Cleo) Connel of Tryon, Nebraska; one brother, Clarence Christensen of Forest Grove, Oregon; nieces and nephews also survive her.
