ALBERT H. RICHTER, EX-BLAIRITE, WAS NAVY VETERAN OF BOTH WARS

Lt. Albert H. Richter (U.S. Navy, retired), former Blairite, died Friday, Apr. 23, at the Long Beach, Calif., naval hospital. He had been ailing for some time.

The retired navy lieutenant was a veteran of both World Wars and a member of the American Legion post at Washington, D.C.

Military services were held at Mottell’s Chapel in Long Beach, Tuesday, Apr. 27, at 10 a.m. Chief Chaplain W.S. Peck, Jr., of the Navy officiated, and interment was at Fort Resecrans National Cemetery at San Diego.

Albert Henry Richter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Richter, was born in Blair, Oct. 2, 1893. Following his graduation from Blair High School in 1910, he attended the Gaydou Commercial College here. He served in the navy from before World War I until after World War II, and during the recent war was the disbursing officer in San Pedro.

He is survived by his wife, Marie M. Richter; three brothers, Arthur J. Richter of Natchitoches, La., Harry L. Richter of Los Angeles and Kenneth R. Richter of Wilmington, Calif.; two aunts, Mrs. J.L. Pounds and Mrs. E.C. Lippincott, both of Blair; and three uncles, E.W. “Bill” Schmidt of Blair, O.D. Schmidt of Norfolk, Nebr., and Henry Schmidt of Florence. There are a large number of cousins.

RETIRED NAVY LIEUTENANT DIES

Albert Henry Richter, 55, of 3923 Marron avenue, died April 23 at a Long Beach hospital.

A retired navy lieutenant, he was a veteran of both world wars and a member of the American Legion, Washington D.C. post.

He was born in Blair, Neb., and came to Long Beach 25 years ago from San Diego. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marie M. Richter, Long Beach, and brothers, Arthur J. of Natchatoches, La., H.L. of Los Angeles, and K.R. of Wilmington.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mottell’s chapel.
