LLOYD IVAN LEWIS JR; DIES AT OAKLAND

Lloyd Ivan Lewis Jr., age 54, of rural Oakland, passed away at the Oakland Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska on Friday, July 8th, 1988.

Lloyd was born on February 27th, 1934 at Herman, Nebraska to Lloyd Ivan and Jennie C. (Lydick) Lewis. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1951, where he was very active as a football player. Lloyd was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, having actively served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U. S. Army from 1950-1966, and he served in the U. S. Army Reserves for the last four years. He was united in marriage to Giesela Fuchberger on November 11th, 1959 at Augsburg, West Germany.

Lloyd was a member of the Oakland V.F.W. Ryan Post No. 5543 and a member of Lebanon Lodge No. 831, A.F. & A.M. of Augsburg, West Germany.

Survivors include his wife, Gisela Lewis of rural Oakland; two sons, Markus W. Lewis of Omaha and Robert Ivan Lewis and his wife, Susan, of West Germany; his mother, Jennie C. Lewis of Tekamah; three brothers, James H. Lewis of Tekamah; William B. Lewis of Omaha; and Ronald L. Lewis of Lincoln; two sisters, Patty Evans of Conroe, Texas; and Marjorie Doty of Lincoln.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12th, 1988, at the Tekamah United Methodist Church with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery at Craig, Nebraska. Military Graveside Honors were conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Ryan Post No. 5543 of Oakland, Nebraska. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
